Dr. Erick Kaufman is the founder and Medical Director of Doctors of Cannabis. With more than 30 years of clinical experience across hospital medicine, academic teaching, and integrative care, he built DOC to bring physician-level rigor to medical cannabis. Dr. Kaufman's career spans private practice, academic medicine, and healthcare leadership. After dual residency training, he spent over a decade at Ferrell Duncan Clinic in Springfield, Missouri — a multi-specialty group of 100+ board-certified specialists — before returning to Oklahoma City in 2010 to join the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine as Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine, where he held five leadership roles:

Dr. Kaufman also presented Grand Rounds, served on the American College of Physicians' Governor's Council, and volunteered at Good Shepherd Clinic providing free medical care to underserved Oklahomans.
Research & Publications
Dr. Kaufman participated in research and publications with the Sjögren's Syndrome group at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation during his tenure at OU. His clinical and research interests include integrative medicine, cannabis therapeutics, chronic pain management, addiction medicine, and physician education.
Cannabis Medicine
In 2018, Dr. Kaufman founded Doctors of Cannabis to create an authoritative, physician-led resource for patients exploring medical cannabis. Since then, DOC has served over 45,000 patients across 27+ states.
He also co-founded HolisticallyRx (HRx), a sister integrative medicine practice that extends the same physician-first philosophy to weight management, hormone optimization, and longevity care.
